There was a time when it was easy to look at the sky and live in this moment. Realizing for a brief second in absolute fullness how huge and small life is. To see the infinite of up and think for a while how small our lives are.
Instead I am caught in the limited medium of TV, burning my imagination like incense in front of the air conditioner. Fleeting and pointless.
It is a rare treasure to be satisfied. Have you ever seen someone truely happy? someone satisfied with where they were, what they were doing, and who they were becoming? I have, actually as I think about it, I do on an almost regular basis.
There is a people group that we live around, that we ignore. They are everyone for a while but as time and logic sink in they fade. They understand their position in life, and, for the most part, are satisfied just to be alive.
- Children -
there is a simple understanding of contentment and satisfaction in children; actually maybe it's just ignorance, but none the less. If you ever get a chance, watch a newborn. Eyes like dinnerplates excitement like nothing you've ever seen, simply out of living in such a colorful intricate world.
I heard once that babies sleep so much because there is so much they are seeing for the first time, that their brains need that much more time to process everything.
If you want a real world-view changing experience, try this. For as much of the day as you can, look at your everyday things, as though you had never seen them. Try to imagine, not knowing what or why a car was or would ever be needed. Try imagining a color that doesn't exist. Try to see the world through the eyes of a child.
